Dino fighting - many arrests
by Steve Sneyd Acting on a tip from an undercover International Society for the Prevention of Species Cruelty (ISPSC) agent, police today swooped on a remote location in the Chernobyl International Wilderness Park to break up an illegal cloned species fight. Spearheaded by General Inspector Yves Jones y Gomez of the Euranimal Police Special Squad, in liaison with local forces, the lawmen arrived just as the fight's horrific main attraction, a "battle to the death" between a Tyrannosaurus Rex dinosaur and a Siberian mammoth, had begun. In the rush to escape, several spectators were trampled. 3 deaths have been reported, and there were 140 arrests, including persons originating from many different parts of the European and Russian regions, as well as several from beyond our continent. In addition to offences under various species cruelty laws, those arrested face charges under regulations governing unauthorised entry to a wilderness park, violation of the Residual Radioactivity (Precautions) Act - the are having first become a wilderness reserve following its evacuation after one of the earliest major radiation escapes on record, and a variety of other suspected offences.
Your reporter asked if this meant he suspected police had been bribed to warn the masterminds behind the so-called Battle of Giants. "I am 100 percent sure of the loyalty of my own squad," he said, but refused to comment on the reliability of local uniformed units involved in the swoop. The creatures captured during the raid are being donated to secure zoos, except for those too badly wounded, which were humanely destroyed. |
